How many of you are in the habit of washing your hands on a very regular basis? How many of you maintain a 2m social distance from others? My guess is most of you! You have successfully adopted new behaviours! The threat that you face has meant that you have presented a readiness to change, engaging in the new behaviour and very quickly, it has become the social norm. A new behaviour has now become a habit.
Similarly, throughout lockdown many of us have had to make quick adjustments to our lifestyles, from working from home; home schooling our children; finding different ways to communicate with loved ones and friends or looking for projects and things to go to wile away the hours at home. This has necessitated in a focus to find solutions rather than problems.
So let’s take that concept and apply it to another scenario. Like me, I expect many of you have noticed your clothes getting a little tighter around the waist and the daily hour of exercise has started to slip. With lockdown easing our focus is now turning back to our diets and a healthier liefstyle. We now know that we are all equipped to make significant changes in a short space of time. It will be changing our behaviours and making good habits that will enable us to achieve our goals.
Covid-19 has been a burning platform necessitating change but without that burning platform then you may need to enlist the help of a coach to help identify bad habits and to facilitate and encourage new and lasting positive behaviours.
